Springbot

Springbot: Locally Built for a Connected Future

The Springbot is South Africa’s homegrown coding and electronics platform, designed to inspire young minds through hands-on learning. Built for schools and communities, Springbot empowers students to explore coding, electronics, and data-driven problem-solving—equipping them with critical skills for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Developed and manufactured in South Africa, the Springbot offers an affordable, robust alternative to imported devices like the micro:bit. It is purpose-built for the South African curriculum and learning environment, ensuring it meets the needs of both learners and educators.

What is Springbot?

Springbot is a compact, powerful learning device featuring:

  • Locally assembled hardware using a popular microcontroller.
  • A range of onboard and plug-in sensors, enabling students to measure and analyse the world around them.
  • A simplified coding environment using block-based and text-based coding, helping beginners and advanced learners alike.

The Springbot Ecosystem

Springbot is more than a device—it’s a complete learning ecosystem designed to build technical confidence and real-world problem-solving skills.

✅ Curriculum-Aligned Lessons: Step-by-step projects designed for South Africa’s Coding & Robotics curriculum, spanning Grades 4 to 9, and supporting further learning in TVET and university levels.

✅ Sensor Modules: Students can explore data from temperature, humidity, pressure, light, motion, and more—turning abstract STEM concepts into practical investigations.

✅ Teacher Support: Comprehensive training, lesson plans, and ongoing support to empower educators in every classroom, from urban centres to rural communities.

✅ Community Platform: An online hub where learners and teachers can share projects, access resources, and participate in national coding and sustainability challenges.

✅ Locally Hosted Services: South African-hosted coding platforms, learning resources, and data dashboards—ensuring fast access and technology sovereignty.

✅ Manufactured in SA: Supporting local tech manufacturing and contributing to South Africa’s growing EdTech industry.

Why Springbot?

Springbot gives every child the opportunity to:
 • Learn to code and work with real-world data.
 • Develop problem-solving skills for the modern world.
 • Participate in a proudly South African innovation story.

Springbot: Locally Made. Globally Relevant. Future Ready.

Our Partners

Changing the world isn't easy, and we couldn't do it alone.

A core value of MaxIQ is to be able to provide our educational resources to students around the globe, especially those who live in areas where there is a lack of educational infrastructure to support these young minds in achieving their full potential. MaxIQ wouldn't be able to fulfil our mission without support from...
